Thank you for your interest in Engadin, a 100 km long valley stretching from Maloja to Martina, with 320 sunny days per year. Engadin means “The garden along Enn”. The river Enn starts in St. Moritz, flows through Scuol, Innsbruck and Passau where it becomes a part of Danabue.
Upper Engadin is 3-5 degrees colder year around, has snow 1-2 weeks earlier and St. Moritz is the Jet set centre why it is also more expensive. German is the dominant language there.
Lower Engadin has milder climate in winter, and warmer in summer, snow comes normally in mid-December, is more traditional, has no “tourist-prices” and the official language is Romansch brought here by the invading Roman troupes 2000 years ago, but is now mixed with other languages. German is widely spoken, also Italian.
Scuol is the main village in Lower Engadin, has a mixed population - many immigrants from Germany, Portugal, Italy and a few Scandinavians and Americans.
In winter visitors come for skiing, snow-boarding, x-c skiing, bob-sledging or just walking/trekking. There are 80 km ski-pistes here from 1250 m up to 2800 m above sea level. www.bergfex.ch/scuol/ The 10 km “dreampist” to Sent is very spectacular. You can x-c ski all the way down to the Swiss border along the beautiful river Enn.
The winter tourists are mainly from Switzerland, Germany (ROS, STA GAR, GA-P on the cars) or Italy.
Summer events are mainly trekking, mountain biking, para-gliding and rafting. www.bergfex.ch/sommer/scuol/. Scuol is the gate to the SwissNational Park, and every year the National park MB-marathon takes place here. You can do trekking tours here over the mountains to Italy or to Austria. Val D’Uina is especially interesting. The Innradweg is easy cycling along the river Enn (Inn in Austria) all the way to Passau and on to Vienna/Budapest if you want. www.innradweg.net
Summer tourists are mainly Swiss, German, Italian and Orthodox Jews from Europe/Israel.
The first Roman-Irish spa in Switzerland is in Scuol.
Das erste römisch-irische Bad der Schweiz befindet sich in Scuol.
Our Vacation-apartment is fully equipped, and there’s a small quantity of sugar, oil, olive oil, tee, coffee, spices etc in it. There’s also a Soda machine and the tap-water here is better than purchased bottled water. There’s a bed-room with a large double-bed and in the living room a bed-sofa for two. If you have small children sleeping in the bed-sofa there’s a problem if the parents want to watch TV late – so you need to let the kids sleep in the parents room or look for another apartment on www.scuol.ch or call the tourist information on +41 81 861 22 22 or firstname.lastname@example.org
It’s not allowed to bring towels from the Apartment to Bogn Engiadina as they often get lost. We can lend you other older towels though, no big loss if they disappear.
